Canada Joins EU Defense Initiative
Canada has decided to join a special group called SAFE with the European Union.
This group helps countries work together on defense.
By joining, Canadian companies that make defense products will be able to sell more easily in Europe.
It will also help bring European investment into Canada.
The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, said this is a good thing because it will help fill important needs and grow the defense industry in Canada.
Canada has agreed to join the EU's SAFE initiative.
The move will give Canadian defense companies better access to the European market.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the agreement on December 1, 2023.
The initiative aims to fill key capability gaps and attract European investment in Canada.
This agreement is expected to expand markets for Canadian defense suppliers.
