India News: PM Congratulates Scientists Amidst Reports of Violence

On November 12, 1985, India's Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was happy with scientists for building new nuclear reactors that are safe and work well.

He encouraged them to keep researching new and better ones.

However, other news on the same day told different stories.

In one village near Amritsar, a policeman was shot and killed by a man who was wanted for many crimes.

This man ran away into the dark.

In another part of the country, in Delhi, four young men who had guns broke into a house.

They stole money and gold.

Also, far away in a forest, a couple was killed because they were given a charm to help them win a court case.

The police caught one person they think did it and are looking for two others.
