Huawei Opens Preorders for Tri-Fold Mate XT 2 in China
Huawei has started accepting reservations for a new phone called the Mate XT 2 in China.
The phone has three connected sections that can fold together.
People can reserve one by paying a 1,000-yuan deposit.
Huawei plans to launch it on September 7, but deliveries may not happen until October 31.
The new phone is expected to have a larger battery and faster charging than the original model.
Its screen folds inward to help protect it from scratches.
Apple is also expected to make its first foldable iPhone.
Apple’s phone would fold like a book instead of having three sections, but its release date is not certain.
Huawei began taking Mate XT 2 preorders in China on August 31 at 10:08 a.m. local time.
The tri-fold smartphone officially launches September 7, with final payments opening after 2:45 p.m. and shipments due by October 31.
Buyers can reserve the device with a 1,000-yuan deposit, while configurations range from 512GB to 2TB of storage.
The Mate XT 2 reportedly adds a Kirin 9050 Pro chip, a 6,000mAh battery, 100W charging, and an inward-folding design.
Apple is expected to introduce a book-style foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, but its availability remains uncertain.
