Microsoft Shelves Xbox Handheld Plans, Prioritizing Windows 11
Microsoft, the company behind Xbox, has put its plans to make its own handheld gaming device on hold.
Instead, they're working to make Windows 11, the software that runs on many gaming handhelds, run better.
This is because the Steam Deck, another handheld, uses its own software (SteamOS) that works really well.
Microsoft hopes to make Windows 11 run just as good on these handhelds, so people have a better experience, especially with battery life.
They still plan on making a handheld Xbox eventually, but it's not the main focus right now.
They are also still working on making games available over the cloud.
Microsoft has reportedly put its internal Xbox handheld development on hold.
The company aims to improve Windows 11 for handheld gaming devices.
Microsoft's partnership with Asus for 'Project Kennan' remains a priority.
SteamOS offers better performance and battery life on some handhelds.
Microsoft is also developing next-generation Xbox cloud systems.
