Tamil Nadu Consults Parties on Rally SOPs Post-Stampede
A big accident happened at a political rally in Tamil Nadu where 41 people sadly passed away because it was too crowded.
Because of this, the government is talking with all the political parties to create new safety rules for future rallies and public events.
They want to make sure that these events are safe for everyone.
The court has also asked the government to create these rules quickly.
The goal is to stop similar tragedies from happening again and make sure political gatherings can happen safely, especially with elections coming up.
Tamil Nadu government has begun discussions with political parties to establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for rallies and public events.
These consultations were initiated after a stampede at a TVK rally in Karur resulted in 41 fatalities.
The meeting involved senior ministers, state officials, and representatives from various political parties, including the ruling DMK and opposition AIADMK.
The state was directed by the Madras High Court to present a draft SOP, while a CBI probe is underway for the Karur incident.
The proposed SOP aims to set a national model for preventing similar tragedies and will shape political campaign conduct for the upcoming 2026 polls.
