SC Clears Verandah Construction, Green Pavers for HC
The High Court wanted to build a verandah (like a porch) and use special blocks in the parking lot.
The government was worried this might hurt the building's heritage status.
The Supreme Court looked at the case and said building the verandah is okay and won't cause any problems.
They also agreed the parking lot could have the new blocks.
The court explained how it would be like other buildings and said experts should be consulted for the work to be done properly.
The Court also put a pause on a warning to officials related to this.
The Supreme Court ruled in favor of constructing a verandah in front of Court Room No. 1.
SC stated the construction would not violate UNESCO guidelines.
The court approved green paver blocks for the parking area.
The Chandigarh Administration had challenged the High Court's orders.
SC rejected temporary structure suggestions by Amicus Curiae.
