Sydney Beach Reopens After Fatal Shark Attack, Drone Response

Sydney Beach Reopens After Fatal Shark Attack, Drone Response

On Saturday morning, a surfer died after a shark attack at Long Reef Beach in Sydney, Australia.

The surfer was surfing with friends about 100 meters from shore.

Other surfers brought him to shore, but he died at the scene.

Authorities used drones and a helicopter to monitor the area for the shark.

Government shark biologists believe a great white shark, about 3.4-3.6 meters long, was responsible.

The incident is the first shark-attack death in Sydney since 2022.

Australia ranks behind the United States in the number of unprovoked shark bites.
