Calcutta High Court Extends Moitra Protection in Hate Speech Case

Calcutta High Court Extends Moitra Protection in Hate Speech Case

The Calcutta High Court is hearing a case about alleged hate speech involving MP Mahua Moitra.

The court has temporarily protected her from coercive action until January 29, 2027.

This means authorities cannot take certain forceful steps against her during that period, subject to the court’s directions.

Moitra went to a police station on August 14 and answered questions from investigators.

The investigation is still continuing.

Her lawyer says the allegations against her were concocted and motivated.

He also said she was not attacked with eggs during that police visit.

The court will hear the matter again on January 13.
