Biocon Completes Acquisition of Biocon Biologics
Biocon, a big company in India, has finished buying more shares of its biosimilar part, Biocon Biologics.
They bought these shares from another company called Mylan.
This is the last step in a plan they started earlier.
Now, Biocon owns almost all of Biocon Biologics.
They also got a lot of money from other big investors to help pay for this.
This money will be used to pay Mylan and to pay back some loans they took for this purchase.
Biocon wants to own all of Biocon Biologics by the end of March 2026.
Biocon completed the acquisition of 7,18,34,691 equity shares of Biocon Biologics from Mylan Inc for USD 200 million.
This is the final step in a two-part transaction to acquire a total of 14,36,69,382 shares for USD 400 million.
Biocon now holds approximately 98% of Biocon Biologics' paid-up equity share capital.
Biocon plans to acquire all minority shareholdings to make Biocon Biologics a wholly-owned subsidiary by March 31, 2026.
Biocon raised Rs 4,150 crore through a qualified institutions placement (QIP), with strong interest from domestic and international investors.
