Kawal Tiger Reserve Struggles to Sustain Tiger Population
Imagine a special park made for tigers, but for a long time, no tigers have lived there.
It's like the park isn't doing its job!
Years ago, a brave tigress named Phalguna came to this park.
She had babies, but sadly, most of them and Phalguna herself disappeared, maybe because of bad people or other problems.
Another tiger family also died.
Now, there are hardly any tigers left, even though the park was made to protect them.
People made a stamp to celebrate the first tigress hoping she would start a big family.
Kawal Tiger Reserve in Telangana hasn't had a tiger for over a decade despite being established for them.
Tigress Phalguna, the first to move into the area, gave birth to eight cubs, but only one survived to adulthood.
Phalguna is believed to have been poached, and her remains were never found.
Another tigress, S6, and one of her cubs died from a poisoned cattle carcass.
The Department of Posts issued a stamp to celebrate Phalguna as a potential matriarch for the reserve.
