Gucchi Morel’s Centuries-Old Uses and New Antioxidant Research

Gucchi is a mushroom that grows in the Himalayan forests of India.

People collect it by hand because it cannot be farmed.

It can grow near poisonous mushrooms, so collectors need special knowledge to identify it safely.

This knowledge has been passed down through generations.

Gucchi was used as a traditional medicine for indigestion, joint pain and wounds.

It later became one of the world’s most expensive wild foods.

Researcher Javed Ahmad Wagay studied its compounds.

He found that it had more antioxidant compounds than almost any other morel he studied.
