Emami Reports 29.7% Drop in Q2 Profit Amidst Trade Disruptions and Rains
Emami, a company that makes everyday products like lotions and powders, had a tougher time in the last three months.
Although they sold more in total, the profit they made dropped by almost 30% compared to last year.
This happened because of a few reasons.
First, a new tax rule (GST) caused some confusion, and shopkeepers and customers waited to buy things, slowing down sales for a bit.
Also, too much rain hurt sales of summer products like talcum powder.
However, most of Emami's products now have a lower tax rate, which should help sales in the long run.
The company's leaders are optimistic, saying that sales are already getting better and they expect good growth in the next few months.
They are also giving shareholders a small dividend payment.
Emami Ltd reported a 29.7% decrease in consolidated profit after tax to ₹148.35 crore for Q2 FY26.
Consolidated revenue from operations declined to ₹798.51 crore in Q2 FY26 from ₹890.59 crore in the year-ago period.
The profit decline was attributed to temporary trade disruptions from GST rate changes and excessive rains impacting certain product categories.
Despite short-term moderation, Emami views the GST rate reduction as structurally positive for long-term demand.
The company declared an interim dividend of ₹4 per share for the financial year 2025-26 and expressed optimism for future growth.
