Tribals Oppose Granite Quarrying, Demand Land Rights in Madugula

Tribal residents from Komiri village protested a granite quarry near Urlova.

They said dust and waste from the quarry were harming farms and cashew trees.

They also said quarry waste had spread onto land they cultivate.

The residents want officials to recognize their land rights.

They asked for land records to be restored and pattadar passbooks to be issued.

A public hearing was held to discuss environmental clearance for the quarry.

Twenty-seven people shared their views at the meeting.

The residents said they would continue and intensify their protest if their concerns were not addressed.
