Michael Hussey Rejects England Test Batting Coach Role
Michael Hussey was asked to help coach England’s Test cricket team.
He decided not to take the job.
Instead, he plans to work with Australia as a consultant.
This work will help Australia prepare for the 2027 Ashes series.
Hussey can still coach in other cricket competitions and work as a commentator.
Stephen Fleming had wanted Hussey to join his support staff.
England may keep Marcus Trescothick as its batting coach.
England will also consider another coach for its wider development teams.
Michael Hussey has rejected an offer to become England’s men’s Test batting coach.
Hussey held talks about joining Stephen Fleming’s support staff after their work together at CSK.
He is expected to take a consultancy role with Australia ahead of the 2027 Ashes.
The role would fit around his existing commitments in The Hundred, franchise cricket and commentary.
England could retain Marcus Trescothick after his caretaker work during the Pakistan Test series.
