Darjeeling Taxi Group Seeks Restriction on Plains Cabs' Sightseeing
Darjeeling taxi association urges Siliguri vehicles to stop hill sightseeing from September 1 · telegraphindia.com

A taxi drivers’ group in the Darjeeling hills has asked taxis from Siliguri and nearby plains areas not to take tourists sightseeing in the hills.

The request is supposed to begin on September 1.

The group included Tiger Hill among the places where it wants the restriction followed.

Hill taxi owners say plains-based cabs may be taking away their business.

Taxi owners in Bagdogra disagree and say they have official permits to travel across the district.

They are waiting for the administration to explain which vehicles may operate.

A tourism association also wants officials to help settle the disagreement.

The state transport department is looking into the matter.
