Fadnavis praises Maharashtra's orphan reservation policy
Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, celebrated the first anniversary of a special rule that helps orphans.
This rule gives 1% of jobs and school spots to children who don't have parents.
Fadnavis said it was one of the most important decisions of his life.
He met some of the 862 people who have already benefited from this rule.
He told them to work hard and help others, just like heroes from history, Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. Ambedkar, did.
The rule was changed recently to help more orphans get jobs.
Maharashtra's 1% reservation policy for orphans in education and jobs was praised by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The policy, introduced in 2018, has benefited 862 orphans, making them self-reliant.
Fadnavis emphasized the policy's alignment with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's principle of equal opportunity.
The eligibility criterion was recently revised to apply to 'vacant posts' instead of 'available posts'.
Fadnavis urged beneficiaries to contribute to society and become role models.
