Advance Tax Deadline Approaches for Non-Salary Income
The deadline for paying the third instalment of advance tax is 15 December.
This applies to people who earn money from things like investments, business, or other sources besides their salary.
If your tax bill from these sources is more than ₹10,000 after accounting for taxes already deducted, you need to pay it in four parts throughout the year.
The first part is due in June, the second in September, the third in December, and the final part in March.
If you miss a payment, you have to pay a small penalty.
Senior citizens usually don't have to pay advance tax, unless their income comes from a business.
The deadline for the third advance tax instalment is 15 December.
Applies to individuals with non-salary income tax liability exceeding ₹10,000 after TDS/TCS.
Payment is made in four instalments: 15% by 15 June, 45% by 15 September, 75% by 15 December, and 100% by 15 March.
Senior citizens over 60 are exempt unless income is from business/profession.
Missing a payment incurs a 3% penalty on the unpaid amount.
