Gor’s Ladakh Visit Highlights Renewed India-China Border Concerns

Some people are worried about Chinese military activity near India’s border in Arunachal Pradesh.

Minister Kiren Rijiju said reports of Chinese troops moving 60 kilometers into India were false.

He said the government still takes local people’s concerns seriously.

Rijiju said India is building more roads and other facilities in border areas.

He argued that earlier governments did not build enough border infrastructure.

He cited former minister A.K. Antony, who had acknowledged India’s infrastructure was behind China’s in 2013.

Antony also said that later governments had improved India’s border strength.

The visit by US Ambassador Sergio Gor to Ladakh has added attention because Indian and Chinese troops clashed in the Galwan Valley six years ago.
