Dengue Cases Decline in Goa Due to New Control Strategies
Imagine tiny bugs called mosquitoes that can make people sick with dengue fever.
Last year, there were many cases in Goa.
This year, health workers worked hard to stop the bugs.
They found where the bugs were breeding, like in old tires, and told people to get rid of them.
They also worked with the local government to clean up places where the bugs like to live.
Because of these efforts, there are fewer people getting sick this year!
Dengue cases in Goa have significantly decreased this year compared to last year.
Only four cases were reported in May, a substantial drop from the previous year's 21 cases.
The health department implemented an early start to control measures, mapping hotspots and focusing on high-risk areas.
Tyre collection drives and public advisories against using tires to hold down plastic sheets were initiated.
Coordination with local bodies improved the timely removal of potential mosquito breeding grounds.
