SP Group Unit Faces Higher Costs in New Fundraising
The Shapoorji Pallonji Group (SP Group) in India has a company called Goswami Infratech that wants to borrow a lot of money, about 250 billion rupees.
They plan to do this by selling special loans called bonds.
But other investors are asking for higher interest rates because another part of the SP Group had to pay more interest recently.
The SP Group says this is not true and that they will pay less interest.
They are talking to big investors like PIMCO, BlackRock, and Vanguard.
The plan was to finish this soon, but it might take until March.
Goswami Infratech, an SP Group unit, plans to raise 250 billion rupees ($2.77 billion) through a two-year zero-coupon bond issue.
Investors are demanding higher interest rates, similar to those offered to Porteast Investment, which saw rates rise from 19.75% to 21.75%.
SP Group denies the higher interest rate claims, stating that the transaction will reflect an improved credit profile and tighter pricing.
The fundraising deal, initially expected to close in January, may now be pushed to March due to ongoing evaluations.
Goswami Infratech has met with major investors like PIMCO, BlackRock, and Vanguard.
