Leaking Roofs, Water Shortage Plague Pardevi ZP School
A small village school in Pardevi, in Nashik, Maharashtra, is in very bad shape.
The roof leaks whenever it rains.
There is not enough water, and there is no clean drinking water for the children.
Around 60 to 70 students all have to sit together in one big classroom.
Because the roof leaks, the floor stays wet and mold grows inside the room.
The mold can make the children sick.
The villagers think the school is no longer safe for learning.
They are asking the government to fix the roof and open new classrooms.
They also want the education minister, Dadaji Bhuse, to step in and help.
The villagers just want the children to study in a safe and clean school.
The Pardevi Gavatil Zilla Parishad primary school in Igatpuri taluka, Nashik, suffers from leaking roofs, acute water shortage and no drinking water facility during the monsoon.
About 60 to 70 students are sitting in a single class in one big room, which parents say harms both student health and education quality.
Torrential rains in Igatpuri taluka damaged the school's thatching sheets, leaving students sitting in water in an unsafe environment.
Dampness and leakage from the roof have caused fungal growth in classrooms, exposing students to infectious diseases.
Villagers have demanded that the Rural School Education Department approve new class sections, repair the roof, and called for immediate intervention by Maharashtra School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse.
