Manipur Violence Deepens as Reprisal Cycle Spreads Across Communities

Manipur has been affected by conflict between different communities for more than three years.

A recent attack killed four Naga civilians in Kangpokpi district.

This followed earlier killings, abductions and other violence involving Kuki, Naga and Meitei groups.

These events can lead to new acts of revenge.

Groups have also blocked roads and highways.

The blockades make it harder to get food, fuel and medical care.

Many displaced people are living in relief camps, and RTI data says more than 700 have died there.

The state government is being urged to arrest those responsible and work harder to stop the violence.
