French TV Exports Rise, Driven by Drama, Animation Sales Down
French TV exports are doing well overall, with more money coming in this year than last.
The industry's sales are up.
A lot of the success comes from popular crime dramas, which are doing very well.
However, animation sales are dropping, which is a problem for a sector known for its animated shows.
The money coming from co-productions has increased.
While sales to Western Europe are strong, sales to the U.S. are at their lowest ever.
Bigger companies are selling most of the shows.
French TV exports increased in 2024, with revenue reaching €209.6M ($244M).
Drama sales are strong, particularly cozy crime series, boosting overall revenue.
Animation sales have declined for five years, with U.S. sales at their lowest since 2008.
Co-production revenue saw a sharp increase, up almost 60% year-on-year.
Sales to the U.S. accounted for just 7.9% of the total revenue, the lowest ever recorded.
