IIT-BHU Overhauls Undergraduate Programs Under NEP
IIT BHU in Varanasi is making big changes to its undergraduate programs.
Starting in July 2025, they will stop offering some five-year Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) programs that give both BTech and MTech degrees.
Instead, they will offer BTech degrees with more options.
Students can choose to add a minor or major in another subject, or continue to MTech after six semesters.
The institute says this change is to give students more choices and flexibility, following the National Education Policy guidelines.
Current students will continue with their original programs.
The number of seats for undergraduate admissions will stay the same.
IIT BHU Varanasi is converting MTech IDD seats to BTech seats starting July 2025.
Students will have four new options: Minor, Major, MTech IDD, or plain BTech.
The change is to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) and provide more flexibility.
Existing students will continue under the original programme structure.
The decision was based on curriculum restructuring, not faculty constraints.
