HC Questions Chandigarh Administration Appeal in Teacher Pay-Parity Case

HC Questions Chandigarh Administration Appeal in Teacher Pay-Parity Case

Suman Lata is a teacher who said she was not receiving the salary she was entitled to.

She taught Classes 11 and 12 at a privately managed school in Chandigarh.

The school received government funding for lower classes, but not for the posts teaching the higher classes.

A lower court agreed that she should receive pay parity.

The Chandigarh Administration appealed that decision.

The High Court said it could not see any difference between Lata’s case and another case already decided by the Supreme Court.

The court dismissed the appeal and criticized the administration for continuing the dispute.

Two senior education officials must appear on September 2 and explain why the appeal was filed.
