Kolkata Metro Orange Line Section Clears Track Inspection
Kolkata Metro workers inspected part of the Orange Line using a push trolley.
The inspection took place on September 17.
The section inspected runs from Beleghata-IT Centre to Salt Lake.
Workers have finished the viaduct and ballastless track there.
This means electrical work can now start.
The larger metro project will connect southern Kolkata with the airport area.
The project is divided into five phases.
The first two phases are already carrying passengers.
A push trolley inspection was conducted on the Beleghata-IT Centre Salt Lake section on September 17.
The inspection followed completion of viaduct and ballastless track works on the stretch.
Electrical works can now begin on the inspected section, according to a Metro official.
The 32-kilometre Kavi Subhash-Jai Hind Bimanbandar project is being built in five phases.
The first two phases are operational, while work continues on the remaining sections.
