UPI to Expand Internationally with PayPal Partnership
Imagine you could use your phone to pay for things online from other countries, just like you do at home.
That's what's happening with a new partnership between India's payment system, UPI, and PayPal.
Soon, you'll be able to use UPI to shop on international websites.
This means you can buy things and pay for them easily, using the same app you already use.
Plus, when you travel abroad, you'll be able to pay with UPI at stores and restaurants.
This should make paying for things much simpler.
This is possible because the National Payments Corporation of India and PayPal are working together.
Indians will soon use UPI for international website shopping via a NPCI-PayPal tie-up.
Cross-border UPI transactions are expected by the end of the year, expanding digital payments.
Indians can use UPI abroad at various locations like cafes and hotels.
Customers will see the UPI logo at checkout on international websites.
UPI handled ₹24 lakh crore in transactions in June, 2024.
