Meta Earned $3 Billion from Fraudulent Ads
Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has been making a lot of money from ads that are not allowed.
These ads include scams, illegal gambling, and other bad content.
A news report says that Meta made over $3 billion from these bad ads, which is more than 10% of their total money.
Most of these bad ads come from China.
Meta tried to stop these ads by creating a special team, but the team was later stopped by the company's boss, Mark Zuckerberg.
After that, the bad ads started increasing again.
Meta says they are trying to stop these ads, but the news report says they didn't answer many questions about it.
Meta earned over $3 billion from fraudulent ads on Facebook and Instagram, amounting to more than 10% of its global revenue.
Nearly 25% of all scam and banned-product ads on Meta's platforms originated from China.
Meta created an anti-fraud team to monitor scam ads from China, reducing revenue from such ads from 19% to 9%.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly asked the anti-fraud team to pause its work, leading to the team being disbanded and a ban on Chinese ad agencies being lifted.
Meta claims to have removed 46 million ads submitted by Chinese businesses in the past 18 months and stopped working with such ad agencies.
