22 Booked for ₹7 Crore MACS Fraud in Jangaon
Imagine a special savings group, like a club where people pool their money.
Some people in charge of a savings club called Rudrama Devi Mahila MACS reportedly took a lot of the club's money, over 7 crore rupees.
They used this money to buy land a few years ago, even though they weren't supposed to buy land without asking everyone in the club first.
A special group that checks on these clubs found out what happened and said the money, plus extra interest, needs to be paid back.
Because the people in charge broke the rules, their main group has been stopped, and someone new is in charge for now.
The police have filed a case against 22 people involved, and they might be arrested.
Some of their belongings have been taken to help get the money back.
The club's regular services for members will still work, and they plan to have a new leadership team soon.
A criminal case has been registered against 22 individuals, including top officials of Rudrama Devi Mahila MACS Limited, for allegedly misappropriating over ₹7.09 crore.
The fraud involved the illegal purchase of 38.21 acres of land between 2018 and 2020 without the approval of the general body.
The Warangal Cooperative Tribunal confirmed financial irregularities and ordered the recovery of the misappropriated funds along with 12% annual interest.
The tribunal also dissolved the managing committee of the MACS for violating cooperative society rules, appointing an assistant registrar as person-in-charge.
Assets of the accused have been attached to ensure fund recovery, while regular society services will continue uninterrupted.
