Jamiat Urges UP to Reconsider Jauhar University Demolition
The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, a religious organization, is asking the Uttar Pradesh government to think again about tearing down 38 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur.
The university's leader, Maulana Mahmood Madani, says this would hurt many students' education and is not the only legal solution.
He mentioned that courts have supported fixing problems with buildings instead of demolishing them in other cases.
The Rampur Development Authority says the buildings were built without permission and must be torn down.
The university disagrees, saying the area was not under the authority's control when the buildings were built.
Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind urges UP government to reconsider demolition order for 38 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.
Maulana Mahmood Madani argues demolition would adversely affect students' education and is not the only legal remedy.
Madani cites judicial precedents favoring regularization and compounding of violations over immediate demolition.
Rampur Development Authority insists on demolition due to lack of approved building plans.
University contends the area was outside RDA’s jurisdiction during construction.
