Trump Escalates Greenland Dispute, Threatens Canada
President Trump wants to control Greenland, which is part of Denmark, because he thinks it's important for the US to have it to stop China and Russia from becoming too powerful in the Arctic.
He has threatened to put extra taxes on things from Europe unless they agree to sell Greenland to the US.
But European leaders are very upset and say that Greenland's future should be decided by the people who live there and Denmark.
They are also worried that Trump's actions are hurting the NATO alliance, which is a group of countries that work together for security.
There have been big protests in Greenland and Denmark against Trump's plan.
The US Supreme Court is also looking at whether Trump can even do this.
Next week, Trump will meet with European leaders to talk about this.
Additionally, Trump has expressed concerns about Canada's ability to defend its northern border and has hinted at potential actions, though it's unclear what exactly he plans to do.
Trump threatened to impose 10% tariffs on European imports, escalating to 25% if no deal is reached on Greenland.
European leaders strongly opposed Trump's tariff threats, with protests in Greenland and Denmark.
The US Supreme Court is examining Trump's authority to impose these tariffs.
