French Open to Retain Line Judges for 2026
The French Open, a big tennis tournament, will keep human line judges in 2026.
This means they won't use computers to decide if a ball is in or out, unlike other major tournaments.
The people in charge believe that the marks left on the clay courts by the tennis balls are clear enough for humans to make the right calls.
They like the tradition of line judges inspecting the marks.
The rest of the big tournaments have switched to computer systems, making the French Open the only one doing it this way.
The French Open will continue using line judges in 2026.
This makes it the only Grand Slam to not use automated line-calling.
The French Tennis Federation (FFT) made the decision.
Organizers cite clay court ball marks for reliable human judgment.
The ATP Tour fully embraced automated line-calling for 2025.
