Kanha Reserve to Reintroduce Wild Buffaloes After 100 Years
A place in Madhya Pradesh called Kanha Tiger Reserve is going to get wild buffaloes again after more than 100 years.
These buffaloes are coming from Assam.
The first group of 10 buffaloes will arrive in early 2026.
Over five years, 50 buffaloes will be brought to Madhya Pradesh.
This is part of a plan to help the environment.
The buffaloes will help the grasslands and wetlands stay healthy.
They will also be food for tigers.
The area where the buffaloes will live was once used by people who caused trouble, but now it's safe and good for wildlife.
The buffaloes will live in a big fence at first, and then they will be let out slowly.
This is a big project to bring back a lost species and make the environment better.
Kanha Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh will reintroduce wild buffaloes after 100 years of extinction in the state.
The first batch of 10 wild buffaloes from Assam is expected to arrive by February-March 2026.
A total of 50 wild buffaloes will be brought to Madhya Pradesh over five years as part of a wildlife exchange program.
The Supkhar range, previously linked to Maoist activities, is now being prepared for the buffaloes' reintroduction.
The project aims to restore ecological balance by reintroducing a key species that supports grassland and wetland health.
