Global Trade To Surpass $35 Trillion In 2025
The United Nations says that in 2025, the total value of all the goods and services bought and sold around the world will be more than $35 trillion.
This is a big increase from 2024, mostly because of strong sales in things like electronics.
However, the growth is slowing down a bit, and next year might not be as good because of problems like higher costs and uncertainty.
Some parts of the world, like East Asia and Africa, are doing really well in trade, while others, like China, are not doing as well.
The UN also says that making things like cars is growing, but selling cars is not doing as well.
Global trade in 2025 is projected to exceed $35 trillion, a $2.2 trillion increase from 2024.
East Asia and Africa are driving global trade growth, while US imports remain strong and Chinese imports lag.
Goods trade contributed $1.5 trillion to the increase, while services accounted for $750 billion.
Manufacturing grew by 10% over the last four quarters, led by electronics related to AI demand.
Automotive trade fell by 4%, and the outlook for 2026 is more subdued due to slower global activity and higher trade costs.
