Indian Railways Expands Kavach 4.0 to 2,490 Route km
Indian Railways has expanded Kavach 4.0, an automatic train protection system, to 2,490 kilometers on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah routes.
Kavach helps prevent accidents by automatically applying brakes if the train driver doesn't respond and keeps trains within speed limits.
It was first adopted in July 2020 and has undergone field trials since February 2016.
The system ensures safer operations even in bad weather.
Three firms were approved to supply Kavach Ver 3.2 in 2018-19.
