Oman Details Background of Flydubai Co-Pilot
There was a problem on a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
The co-pilot, Hamam al-Hammami, who is from Oman, attacked the Indian pilot.
Oman said that Hamam was born in the UAE and his mother is from Syria.
He worked for a short time as a trainee at an Omani airline but was stopped because he looked at bad websites.
Oman said they were never asked to give information about him for background checks.
They think there might have been a mistake in the process.
Oman confirmed that Hamam al-Hammami, the co-pilot, is an Omani national born in the UAE.
He was barred from working in the aviation sector after accessing extremist websites.
Oman stated it never received requests for background checks on him.
The co-pilot's mother is Syrian, and he spent time in the UAE, Syria, and abroad for studies.
