Illegal Migrant Couple Arrested for Shoplifting, Handed to ICE
A man and woman who were not legally in the country were caught trying to steal things from a store on Long Island.
The store called the police, who found out the couple was in the country without permission.
Because of a special program between the local police and immigration officials, the couple was given to immigration agents.
These agents can send people who are in the country illegally back to their home countries.
The local officials said this helps keep their community safe.
The couple is now in the custody of immigration officials.
An illegal migrant couple, Gustavo Tellez Carillo and Erika Gomez Moreno, were arrested for shoplifting at a Target store in Westbury, Long Island.
Nassau County police apprehended the couple on Sunday, November 9, after responding to a shoplifting call.
Authorities discovered that the couple was in the United States illegally.
