Australia Investigates Fourth Sydney Airport Close Call in Month

Australia Investigates Fourth Sydney Airport Close Call in Month

A plane at Sydney airport had to brake to avoid another plane on the ground.

This was the fourth similar air-traffic incident there in less than a month.

The safety bureau said the planes were not in immediate danger of crashing.

It is investigating what happened and whether the incidents share common causes.

Investigators will speak with pilots and air-traffic controllers and examine recorded information.

They expect to release an early report in six to eight weeks.

A controller had earlier worried that staff did not have enough time to learn new airspace procedures.

Another aviation authority said the training and support provided were appropriate.
