Jharkhand agrees to cancel JPSC exams, rejects CBI probe demand
Students in the Indian state of Jharkhand are upset because they believe some government job exams were not fair.
They asked the government to cancel some exams and to let the CBI, a central investigating agency, look into what happened.
The state government met the students and said it agreed to almost all of their requests.
It agreed to cancel three JPSC exams.
But it refused to cancel the CGL exam because courts are already watching that case.
It also refused a CBI probe, saying its own CID will investigate and the ED will check for money problems.
The students said they will keep protesting until the CBI is involved.
They plan a big march to the state assembly building on 10 August.

The Jharkhand government agreed to cancel the 14th JPSC, JPSC Backlog 2023 and JPSC Backlog 2025 exams but refused to scrap the JSSC CGL exam, citing court orders and candidates already employed.
The demand for a CBI probe was rejected; the government instead proposed a CID investigation and a request for an ED probe into alleged financial irregularities.
The government claimed it accepted '98 percent' of student demands, though one report quoted minister Sudivya Kumar saying 'about 95 percent'.
Student leader Ravindra Paswan said more than 50 percent of demands were met, but vowed the agitation will continue until a CBI probe is announced.
Three serving JPSC members — Dr Ajita Bhattacharya, Dr Anima Hansda and Dr Jamal Ahmed — reportedly resigned, and students plan a Jharkhand Assembly march on 10 August.
