Rare Pygmy Killer Whale Found Dead in Odisha
A rare pygmy killer whale was found dead on a beach in Odisha, India.
It was a big whale, about 15 feet long and very heavy.
These whales usually live in deep water, so it's unusual to find one on the shore.
Scientists think it might have been hurt by a boat and then washed up.
They took some samples to find out exactly what happened.
Many people came to see the whale because it's not something you see every day.
Even though it's called a 'whale,' it's actually part of the dolphin family.
A rare pygmy killer whale was found dead near the Kasia fishing jetty in Odisha's Bhadrak district.
The whale weighed between 800-1,000 kg and was about 15 ft long with a 6 ft girth.
Pygmy killer whales typically inhabit deep waters, making this a rare sighting.
Officials suspect the whale may have suffered injuries from a boat or trawler.
A necropsy was conducted, and tissue and blood samples were collected for further analysis.
