Petrol, Diesel Prices Vary Across India
Petrol and diesel prices in India are different in each place.
Andhra Pradesh has the highest prices because it charges the most tax on fuel.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands have the lowest prices because they charge very little tax.
The central government also adds a tax, but the biggest difference comes from the taxes that each state decides to charge.
Some states, like Kerala and Telangana, also have high fuel prices, while smaller places like Daman and Goa have cheaper fuel.
The central government has changed the taxes a few times, but the prices still depend mostly on what each state decides.
You can check the latest prices in your city by sending an SMS to the oil company's number.
Petrol and diesel prices in India vary significantly due to different VAT rates and excise duties imposed by state and central governments.
Andhra Pradesh has the highest fuel prices with the highest VAT, while Andaman & Nicobar Islands have the lowest prices with minimal VAT.
Central excise duty is Rs 21.90 per litre for petrol and Rs 21.56 per litre for diesel.
Kerala, Telangana, and several BJP-ruled states also have high petrol prices, while Delhi has the cheapest fuel among metros due to lower taxes.
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) update fuel prices daily at 6 AM, aligning them with fluctuations in global crude oil prices and currency exchange rates.
