Author Stopped at Marathi Literary Event
At a big Marathi literature event in Satara, Maharashtra, an author named Pradeep Kokare was stopped by the police because he was wearing a black shirt.
The police said black clothes were not allowed because the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, was there.
Kokare was upset and said it was silly to judge people based on the color of their clothes.
The police explained they were taking precautions because they had received warnings that people might protest against the Chief Minister.
Kokare had come to the event to talk to readers at his publishing house's stalls.
He thought the organizers should have told everyone about the dress code in advance.
Author Pradeep Kokare was stopped from entering the 99th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan for wearing a black shirt.
Police cited security protocol due to the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Kokare argued that the dress code should have been clearly mentioned in the invitation.
Police explained they were taking precautions against potential protests involving black flags.
Kokare was representing a publishing house with two stalls at the event.
