NSDL IPO to Meet SEBI Ownership Regulations
NSDL, which helps keep track of stocks, is going public, meaning its shares will be available to the public.
This is to follow SEBI's rules.
Because of these rules, IDBI Bank and NSE, who own a lot of NSDL, have to sell some of their shares so they don't own too much.
NSDL has been changing paper stocks into digital ones since 1996.
NSDL will become India's second publicly traded depository.
The IPO is to comply with SEBI's ownership regulations.
IDBI Bank and NSE, the main shareholders, need to lower their stakes.
IDBI Bank currently holds 26.1% and NSE owns 24% of NSDL.
NSDL has been dematerializing securities since 1996.
