Maharashtra Political Alliances and Civic Elections
In Maharashtra, different political parties are forming new teams to work together.
The Shiv Sena (led by Eknath Shinde) and Congress have created a new group called the Mira-Bhayandar City Development Front to make sure the ruling BJP party doesn't misuse its power.
Meanwhile, there are talks about the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the NCP (led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar) coming together again.
In Chandrapur, the Congress is trying to solve problems within their party to choose leaders for the city council.
In Pimpri-Chinchwad, the BJP is getting ready to pick a new mayor.
These moves are part of a bigger trend where parties are teaming up to have a stronger voice in local politics and to make sure the government works fairly.
The BJP, which has the majority, is also making plans to secure important positions like the mayor of Mumbai and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and Congress formed the 'Mira-Bhayandar City Development Front' alliance to counter BJP's majority.
Congress held an emergency meeting to resolve internal differences in Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC) and decided on leadership roles.
BJP is preparing to elect the 27th Mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad on February 6, with the post reserved for the general category.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut predicts Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar will reunite within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
BMC mayor election delayed until the first week of February 2026 due to registration technicalities.
