Indian-Origin Scientist Named NAI Fellow
Raghuraman Kannan, a scientist from India working in the United States, has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.
This is a big honor because it means he is one of the most important inventors in the country.
He works at the University of Missouri and studies how to use tiny particles to deliver medicine directly to cancer tumors.
This helps treat cancer while causing less harm to healthy parts of the body.
He has made many important discoveries and holds 65 patents.
Kannan will be officially recognized at a conference in Los Angeles.
Another professor from the same university, Henry Nguyen, was also named a Fellow for his work in plant genetics.
Raghuraman Kannan, an Indian-origin cancer researcher, was named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).
He is recognized for developing nanoparticle-based drug delivery platforms that target cancer tumors while minimizing damage to healthy tissue.
Kannan holds 65 issued patents, including 12 active patents in the United States.
He is a Curators’ Distinguished Professor at the University of Missouri and serves as associate director of the Immuno-oncology and Therapeutics Program at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Centre.
Kannan and Henry Nguyen, another University of Missouri professor, will be formally inducted at the NAI’s annual conference in Los Angeles in summer 2025.
