Puducherry to Begin Piped Natural Gas Supply on August 15
Imagine Puducherry getting gas delivered through pipes, like water!
Starting August 15, factories will get gas first.
The company building the pipes has finished part of the work and is waiting for a final safety check.
Gas will come from Indian Oil.
More pipes will be laid to bring gas to homes and businesses later.
The government is making it cheaper to use gas by reducing taxes.
The project was delayed, but now it's almost ready.
The plan is to have gas available for many people in the next year.
Puducherry will start supplying Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to industrial consumers on August 15.
The project is implemented by East Coast Natural Gas Distribution Pvt. Ltd. and utilizes an 18-kilometer pipeline.
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) will provide the natural gas, pending final approval.
The PNG network will expand in phases, aiming to serve 8,000 to 10,000 consumers in the first year.
The Puducherry government has reduced VAT on PNG to encourage adoption.
