Chitrakoot Flood Response Continues As Mandakini Water Level Recedes

Floodwater in Chitrakoot has started to go down.

The Mandakini River was highest on August 29 and later receded.

Rescue workers moved 688 people to safer places.

Officials said nobody and no animals died in the Chitrakoot floods.

Thirty-six villages were affected, and people received food, supplies and medical help.

Eighteen shelters are open for people who need a safe place.

Many houses were damaged, and some families have already received money.

In a separate rescue in Ghazipur, 12 shepherds and more than 2,000 sheep were saved from a river island.
