Regulator Tightens Data Trail for Personal Guarantor Insolvency

Regulator Tightens Data Trail for Personal Guarantor Insolvency

Many people who personally guaranteed loans are entering an insolvency process.

By June 2026, 5,186 such cases had been filed.

Creditors filed most of the cases, while debtors filed fewer.

Only 64 cases had an approved plan for repaying money.

Creditors recovered nearly ₹235 crore, which was about 1% of the claims accepted in the cases.

This showed that the process was not working effectively enough.

The regulator is introducing electronic forms to collect updated information.

The information may help identify delays and encourage people involved in the cases to act faster.
