Allahabad HC Orders Power Restoration for MP Facing Electricity Theft Charges
Imagine a person had a big electricity bill because the electric company thought they were stealing power.
The electric company charged a lot of money.
The person said it wasn't fair, and a court agreed to look into it.
The court said the fine was too high and ordered the power company to turn the electricity back on while they figure out the situation.
The person has to pay a smaller amount to keep their case going, and the court will hear more about it in the future.
The Allahabad High Court directed the restoration of power to MP Zia Ur Rehman Barq.
The court deemed the ₹1.91 crore fine imposed by UPPCL as 'arbitrary'.
Barq was asked to deposit ₹6 lakhs to continue his appeal.
