Maharashtra Flags 1.22 Crore Voters for SIR Notices

Election officials are checking voter records in Maharashtra.

They found more than 1.22 crore records that need additional review.

Some records could not be matched with existing information.

Other records matched but had possible mistakes or unusual details.

Officials will send notices to the affected voters.

The notices give voters a chance to explain or correct the information.

Mumbai Suburban has the most voters selected for notices.

Mumbai city also has several lakh such voters.

The process is called a Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, of the electoral rolls.
